Teens charged in crime spree – Times

THOMASVILLE — Five teens have been charged in a three-month crime spree investigated by Thomasville police.

Suspects range in age from 13 to 16, said Capt. Maurice Homes, Thomasville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division commander.

Detectives have been gathering intelligence since August in nighttime commercial burglaries, stolen vehicles and entering autos in the U.S. 19 South area. In one incident, golf carts were stolen from a 19 South business and abandoned off Cassidy Road on the opposite side of the city.

“We cleared up several (cases), but we have some loose ends,” Holmes said.

Five handguns stolen from a business have not been recovered, but officers did recover a stolen motorcycle and a stolen motor scooter.

“Both were returned to the owners,” the commander said.

The young suspects are charged with burglary and theft by taking, among other offenses.

Three teens are being held at the Loftiss Youth Detention Center, and two were released to their parents.
