San Jose police: Three more schools targeted in crime spree

SAN JOSE — One day after officials with the Alum Rock School District confirmed three of its schools and an office were vandalized and ransacked in the past week, San Jose police on Wednesday reported three other schools with other districts were also targeted.

San Jose police responded to similar break-ins at a total of six schools and one district office between Thursday and Tuesday morning, according to officer Gina Tepoorten. Police do not have any information on a possible suspect or suspects.

“It looks like there’s a strong possibility these were all committed by the same individual or group of individuals,” Tepoorten said.

Tepoorten said the suspects targeted Ocala STEAM Academy, Sheppard Middle School, George Middle School, Katherine Smith Elementary, O.B. Whaley Elementary and Toyon Elementary and the Alum Rock School District’s human resources and purchasing office.

The schools are located in the same general area, east of Highway 101 and Interstate 680.

Bay businesses targeted in crime spree

Police are investigating a string of burglaries targeting Bay of Islands businesses over Labour weekend.

The break-ins are thought to be linked to the theft of a vehicle in Moerewa about 10.40pm on Saturday, with the stolen car seen at least one of the crime scenes later that night.

Constable Dave Brothers, of Kerikeri police, said Paihia clothing stores Rip Curl and Modern Collective were broken into about 2.15am on Sunday.

That was followed by two burglary attempts around 5am at the Opua General Store and the Roadrunner Tavern between Paihia and Opua.

In both cases premises were damaged but the would-be burglars were heard and chased away by the business owners before anything was taken.

At 6.30am the stolen car was located in the Moerewa area, after it was dumped on Lucas Rd, Otiria, and set

Moultrie Hispanic communities targeted in nearly year-long crime spree – WALB

MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) –

Hispanic residents in Moultrie are the targets of an almost year-long crime spree.

Colquitt County Investigators said these residents are being asked to be observant after several armed robberies and home invasions.

“An armed robbery in its self, the totality of it is a very violent crime, a violent experience,” said Lt. Mike Murfin with the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office.

The men get away with sometimes several hundred to several thousand dollars, usually targeting more than one person at a time.

Investigators said there appears to be no pattern in time, day, or area of the county.

“We’ve increased our patrol, the majority of these incidents are occurring in the late hours in the evening, at midnight or some at 7 or 8 ‘o’ clock in the evening,” explained Murfin.

The suspects are described as black males wearing dark

Burglars hit at least five business Cambridge premises in the early hours of Thursday morning.

In one incident a Land Rover was used to drive through the front window of an Albert St motorcycle store.

Blackwoods Yamaha owner Wayne Blackwood could only speculate as to the reasons why nothing was stolen.

“We were left with a vehicle which had obviously broken down,” he said.

“I’m guessing this had something to do with the reason they had to leave on foot.”

Around 4.30am thieves targeted Cambridge Grains and the neighbouring Cambridge Equestrian Centre on Abergeldie Way.

Cambridge Grains spokesperson Kerry Rennie described the damage to their front doors as “massive”.

“We’re still assessing what was stolen, as they literally trashed the place.
