Serial offender stole €10k worth of property during seven-hour Limerick crime spree

A SERIAL offender who stole almost €10,000 worth of property during a seven-hour crime spree in a County Limerick village will be sentenced in the new year.

Robert O’Donoghue, aged 25, who has an address at St Jude’s, Garryowen has pleaded guilty to multiple charges relating to offences which occurred during the early hours of December 16, 2016 in Adare.

During a sentencing hearing before Christmas, Detective Garda Jerry O’Sullivan said several homes and businesses were broken into and that Mr O’Donoghue had also stolen kegs from outside two pubs.

All of the offences, he said, happened between 2am and 9am.

Limerick Circuit Court was told in one incident the defendant broke into an apartment at Station Road in the village and took the keys of a car which was parked outside.

The apartment was occupied at the time and a sat-nav was taken from the car.

Teen stole NJ trooper’s SUV, went on crime spree, cops say

State Police have accused a 16-year-old boy of stealing an unmarked police vehicle and taking it on a county-wide crime spree, pulling over and robbing motorists before ditching the troop car and evading capture for three days.

The police SUV was stolen right from the driveway of a state trooper’s North Brunswick home either late Saturday or early Sunday, police said. State Police have declined to identify the trooper involved.

The vehicle contained two police weapons and several uniforms, authorities said.

The teen, who also was not identified because he is a minor, was captured Wednesday by detectives from the State Police and North Brunswick Police Department “after they developed a suspect based on forensic analysis of evidence recovered during the investigation,” according to a statement released Thursday.

Authorities now say the teen used the vehicle, which contained uniforms and two weapons, to pull over three drivers around Middlesex County, successfully robbing
