NC man sentenced for crime spree at casinos, car dealership

A North Carolina man was sentenced Friday in state district court to 10 years in prison on one charge of racketeering.

Daniel Sherman King, 37, in jail on $1.35 million bond since his arrest a year ago, could have received up to 50 years.

The charge stems from a crime spree that authorities said King and a girlfriend went on in 2016 that involved identify theft and fraudulent activities at Golden Nugget, L’Auberge Casino Resort, Isle of Capri, Coushatta Casino Resort, a car dealership and a bank.

In sentencing the defendant, Judge Mike Canaday said King had been in trouble with the law since 2008 and had prior felonies, including bank robbery.

He said one victim asked the court to sentence King to the maximum sentence while another asked for leniency and said that if King hadn’t been involved with drugs he didn’t think

Missouri woman sentenced for crime spree in Florida Panhandle – WJHG

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – A Missouri woman who was dubbed part of a “modern-day Bonnie and Clyde” has been sentenced for her part in a string of crimes in Florida.

Brittany Nicole Harper, 32, was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in prison after pleading no contest to robbery, home invasion, and other charges.

Authorities say Harper was involved in crimes that span four states. They say she and her boyfriend Blake Fitzgerald stole a Cadillac during a test drive in Missouri, later carjacked victims at gunpoint in Alabama and Georgia and also were involved in a home invasion.

In February 2016, Harper and Fitzgerald led law enforcement on a chase through Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. The chase ended in a standoff in Milton and Fitzgerald used Harper as a human shield. Fitzgerald was killed in the shootout and Harper was injured.

In June 2016, the State Attorney’s Office announced the law
