Jeffco crime spree ends after bank robbery, kidnapping and home invasion

KUSA – A suspect involved in numerous crimes committed throughout Jeffco early Saturday morning is in custody, law enforcement says.

Starting at 4 a.m. in Lakewood, the suspect got into the car of a 27-year-old man leaving his apartment for work. The suspect told the man to drive him from the complex – turning a carjacking into a kidnapping, authorities say.

The driver begged to be let go, so the suspect dropped the man off at work – a Conoco in Lakewood.

Media captionGeorge Osborne was one of the gang’s 103 victims

A moped gang that robbed more than 100 people, including an attempted robbery on former chancellor George Osborne, has been jailed.

Claude Parkinson, 18, and two boys aged 16 and 15, carried out the robberies over a five-day spree that “spiralled out of control”.

All three had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery.

A fourth unknown member used a hammer to intimidate victims in Camden, Westminster, Islington and Chelsea.

The gang were sentenced at Southwark Crown Court.

After they were arrested in May, police reported a 40% drop in moped-related robberies in Westminster.
