5th person charged in connection with bloody crime spree that left 5 dead, 6 injured – Virginian

NORFOLK

A fifth member or associate of a Portsmouth street gang was arrested over the weekend on charges he helped carry out a bloody crime spree in late 2015 that left five people dead and at least four others injured.

Malek Lassiter is charged with 10 felonies, including racketeering and attempted murder in aid of racketeering. If convicted on all charges, he faces the possibility of life in prison.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Bosse declined to comment on the new charges. A federal magistrate on Monday ordered a defense attorney to be appointed to represent Lassiter.

A federal grand jury previously indicted Anthony “Ace” Foye, Alvaughn “LB” Davis, Nathaniel “Savage” Mitchell and Antonio “Murdock” Simmons last year in connection with the December 2015 crime spree.

In an effort to avoid the death penalty, Foye and Davis pleaded guilty in May to multiple felonies.

Foye, who is now trying to withdraw his guilty plea, confessed to killing

Bungled Vail Valley crime spree concludes with fourth person headed to jail

EAGLE — The fourth and final participant in a botched 2015 crime spree was sentenced Monday to two years in state prison.

Mateo Serna-Gutierrez, 24, was sentenced for his part in a 2015 armed robbery in Gypsum that resulted in Good Samaritan Alan Gonzalez being shot three times.

Serna-Gutierrez pled guilty Jan. 23 to a misdemeanor count of aiding escape. However, he did not show up for his sentencing hearing for that case, plus an unrelated charge of possession with intent to distribute drugs — in this case, cocaine — in a buy arranged by an Eagle County Sheriff’s Office undercover detective. That’s a class 3 felony.

During Monday’s sentencing hearing, Serna-Gutierrez said he wanted to be a better member of the community, and a better example for younger family members. He and his attorney Terry O’Connor said he was struggling with drug addiction at

Police from numerous local agencies — the Sheriff’s Office, the California Highway Patrol and the Eureka Police Department — have arrested a suspect in what one officer calls a “week-long crime spree” spread out over the county, and they’re now questioning him near the old KOA Campground between Eureka and Arcata.

The detention of the man follows a hectic day of police sightings of the man in and around Eureka. This afternoon police attempted to inconspicuously set up a net around the man in the Henderson Center area, which he was able to escape.

There was discussion of setting spike strips out along various northern entrances to the city,

LEITCHFIELD, Ky. (WBKO) – A second man has been arrested in a multi-county vandalism and burglary spree.

On January 9, 21-year-old Brycen Elmore of Caneyville was arrested and charged with complicity to commit burglary and commit mischief in Grayson County.

On January 5, The Leitchfield Police Department arrested Jordan Gray of Caneyville theft by unlawful taking-$500 or more but under/$10,000, theft by unlawful taking $10,000 or more but under $1,000,000, Arson 2nd degree and criminal mischief 1st Degree (3 counts).

The crime spree is estimated to have cost taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars, including several thousands
