KUSA – A man and woman from Colorado are in custody and are accused of a crime spree in New Mexico that state police say included carjacking a vehicle with a family inside, leading officers on a chase with speeds upwards of 100 miles per hour and hitting and killing a motorcyclist.
Daniel Lowell of Colorado has been charged with 18 crimes for the incident, according to a news release from New Mexico State Police.
The 34-year-old was also wanted on numerous warrants out of Colorado – including attempted murder.
His companion, 32-year-old Trista Schlaefli of Colorado Springs, faces 10 charges, state police say. Both suspects are being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center.

A teenager charged in connection to the fatal hit-and-run of a motorcyclist in Melbourne had allegedly been in the middle of a four-day crime spree.
Euan Delly, from Seaford, appeared before Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with multiple counts of theft and aggravated burglary.
The 18-year-old has also been charged with allegedly stealing the BMW that hit Scottish tradie Keith Stevens, 33, as he rode his motorbike through Mitcham on Wednesday.
