Fifth juvenile arrested in Colorado Springs-area crime spree

The fifth and final juvenile wanted in a string of car thefts, burglaries and a kidnapping across Colorado Springs and El Paso County is now in custody.

Authorities arrested the teen in the Stetson Hills area Thursday afternoon, sheriff’s spokeswoman Jacqueline Kirby said. The teen faces multiple charges of motor vehicle theft and burglary, which occurred after he allegedly crashed a vehicle in the Peyton area Wednesday, Kirby said.

Following the crash, the teen is suspected of burglarizing several homes and stole his parents’ vehicle in an attempt to evade authorities, Kirby said.

Four alleged accomplices – two males and two females – believed to be connected to earlier burglaries and car thefts were arrested Wednesday. The males also are accused in a county shooting Monday night and face attempted murder charges, Kirby said. Details were not released.

Four juveniles arrested in Colorado Springs crime spree involving shooting, kidnapping and car thefts

Deputies have arrested four juveniles, two males and two females, in connection with a crime spree that included attempted murder, kidnapping, car thefts and burglaries.

The four, whose names weren’t released because of their ages, were arrested Wednesday, and a fifth juvenile is still being sought. El Paso County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Jacqueline Kirby said the male juvenile was last seen in Peyton and is armed and “very dangerous.”

One stolen vehicle, a burgundy Ford Explorer, was found with two of the suspects around 3 p.m. Another car, a white Mercedes, was found Tuesday afternoon.

Colorado pair arrested in New Mexico crime spree that ended in motorcyclist’s death

KUSA – A man and woman from Colorado are in custody and are accused of a crime spree in New Mexico that state police say included carjacking a vehicle with a family inside, leading officers on a chase with speeds upwards of 100 miles per hour and hitting and killing a motorcyclist.  

Daniel Lowell of Colorado has been charged with 18 crimes for the incident, according to a news release from New Mexico State Police. 

The 34-year-old was also wanted on numerous warrants out of Colorado – including attempted murder. 

His companion, 32-year-old Trista Schlaefli of Colorado Springs, faces 10 charges, state police say. Both suspects are being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center.

Colorado Springs man arrested in bank-robbing crime spree

The string of robberies in which a man presented notes demanding money began Sept. 7 with the US Bank at 3525 Hartsel Drive, police said. All but one of the banks are in Colorado Springs.

Brown allegedly attempted to rob the US Bank inside the King Soopers at 815 Cheyenne Meadows Road, returning to rob it the next day.

He allegedly cased TCF Bank at 7239 N. Academy Blvd. on Sept. 25, the same day he allegedly attempted to rob two other banks on the same road.

The following is a list of the banks involved in the crime spree:

– Sept. 7: US Bank, 3525 Hartsel Drive

– Sept. 14: Academy Bank, 1 S. Tejon St.

– Sept. 17: US Bank, inside King Soopers, 9225 N. Union Blvd.
