Seven teenagers arrested in Hendersonville carjackings, crime spree

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn (WKRN) – Hendersonville Police have arrested seven teenagers for two carjackings and more than 30 car burglaries. They held a rare Friday night news conference to share details of the investigation.

For three weeks, detectives from across Middle Tennessee have been working together on the case. They traveled as far as Florida to catch one of the suspects.

“These persons that we’re dealing with have a reckless disregard and disrespect for others in our community,” said Lt. Scott Ryan of the Hendersonville Police Department. “We’re not going to stand for that. We’re going to dump our resources into it and make it stop.”

The latest arrests came Friday afternoon. Two teens were captured in Nashville, ages 14 and 16, for a carjacking on June 6.  A woman was held at gunpoint while three suspects stole her car and belongings.

Another carjacking happened June 7.  A man was coming home from work when

Arrest made in morning crime spree that included shootings, carjackings and a police pursuit

A 32-year-old man at the helm of a dramatic police pursuit on Highway 400 this morning allegedly shot his own brother before embarking on a spree of violent carjackings.

The waterfall of events started at 2 a.m. Wednesday on Hertzberg Gardens, a housing development near York University, where the suspect allegedly shot at his brother for unknown reasons.

Toronto Police Insp. Colin Greenaway told reporters that officers had identified a suspect at that point, but he had fled the area before they arrived.

At 5 a.m., a man allegedly stole a vehicle left running and unattended near 1280 Finch Avenue West.

Then, 45 minutes later, Greenaway says they believe the same man tried to carjack another vehicle in the same area but the occupant resisted and he left emptyhanded.

The same suspect then arrived at 160 Norfinch Drive, near Steeles Avenue, half an hour later.

There, he reportedly attempted to carjack the occupant of a vehicle

21-year-old arrested after spree of shootings, carjackings

The violence came at a frenetic pace Sunday: two homicides, three shootings, a pair of carjackings and a high speed pursuit that took police from east-end Montreal to a shopping mall in Brossard.

Frédérick Gingras, 21, is in custody and police suspect he’s responsible for the majority of Sunday’s carnage. They allege Gingras fatally gunned down a 49-year-old woman outside an Esso station in Pointe-aux-Trembles, stole her Jeep and crashed it before stealing another vehicle at gunpoint half an hour later.

The 21-year-old will appear in court on Tuesday.

Investigators are trying to determine if the suspect has any connection to a homicide that was reported just a few minutes before the gas station shooting.
