Hunt for armed robbers who went on fatal crime spree in Free State

Cape Town – Police in the Free State on Monday said it launched a manhunt for a group of men who went on a crime spree in and around Bloemfontein, killing a police officer and another man.

According to a statement from police, four armed men accosted police detective sergeant Motse Monyayi and his wife outside their home in Phahameng, Bloemfontein.

The suspects shot and killed Monyaki after robbing him of his official firearm and other household items before fleeing the scene in the police officer’s vehicle.

“The suspects then drove to Mafora location where at about 8:05pm they allegedly robbed a taxi driver who had stopped at a tuckshop for his assistant to buy bread. They allegedly fired two shots and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of money, a cellphone and Quantum keys,” police said.

Armed Robber Sought For Beaumont Crime Spree

BEAUMONT, CA – Beaumont police are seeking a man suspected in back-to-back, armed hold-ups last week at a bank ATM and a business, according to authorities.

In the first incident, the Beaumont Police Department was called at about 7:42 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15 to an attempted robbery at a bank on the 400 block of East 6th Street, after a victim called 911 reporting that while at an ATM, a man approached the victim’s vehicle, flashed a handgun and dropped a plastic bag in the window telling the individual to put money in the bag, the agency said.

The victim, however, stepped on the gas and fled the bank without complying with the suspect’s demands, police said.

Arriving officers were unable to locate anyone matching the man’s description — a Hispanic male about 30 years old, wearing a black or gray hooded sweatshirt, jeans and a bandana over his face.

Man accused of armed robbery spree arrested after leading officers …

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A chase ended with one person in custody Wednesday night in Colorado Springs.

Julian Archuleta, 33, now faces a number of charges and is reportedly linked to a spree of armed robberies.

Colorado Springs police say around 7 p.m. Wednesday, Archuleta robbed a local business in the 3300 block of E. Fountain Blvd. A few hours later, officers spotted his truck driving around a strip mall near Hancock Expressway and Delta Drive.

That’s when officers started following Archuleta’s Dodge pickup truck but when they tried to stop him, he took off.

“We perused the vehicle, and we had to use intervention to make that vehicle stop,” Colorado Springs police sergeant Keith Wrede told 11 News.

CAR CHASE: Man arrested after armed crime spree

UPDATE SATURDAY: Police searching for two men allegedly involved in a number of incidents in Brisbane and Maryborough on January 4 have arrested a man.

Yesterday about 5pm police located a Mazda 3, allegedly stolen from Dundowran Beach on January 4, abandoned on Boscombe Street in Brookfield.

Just after 10pm last night Wynnum police were conducting patrols when they saw a man travelling in a vehicle along Manly Road.

Officers intercepted the vehicle, in which the man was travelling as a passenger of a ride-sharing service, taking him into custody.

The driver who was not involved in the incidents was not taken into police custody.

An 18-year-old Carina man is currently in custody and is due to appear in Richlands Magistrates Court on Monday, January 8.

Police seek man and woman suspected in armed crime spree

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – Metro Police robbery detectives are on the lookout for a man and woman suspected in a dangerous armed robbery crime spree.

The same couple is suspected of pulling a gun on their victims during the robberies to intimidate them into handing over money. Several of the stick-ups have occurred in the Castleton area.

But it is what police will view on surveillance video from a Subway restaurant that could help bring them to justice. The video shows them committing a bold robbery. They are caught on camera at an East 86th Street Subway on the morning of December 20, where they first ordered a sandwich. Then the woman pulled a gun and started demanded money from the sandwich shop employee.

The owner of the Subway is not surprised that the robbery happened. He shared with Eyewitness News that this is the season.

A federal jury on Thursday found 50-year-old Robert Berrios guilty of all 12 robbery, firearm and conspiracy charges filed against him, according to a statement from the U.S. attorney’s office.

Berrios was the last of his four-man crew to be convicted, prosecutors said. Julio Rodriguez, 36; David Revis, 37; and 33-year-old Luis Diaz all previously pleaded guilty to their roles in the robberies.

The crew mainly targeted cellphone stores, often brandishing guns, restraining employees with zip ties and stealing thousands of dollars in cash and phones, prosecutors said. They worked together to gather information about the stores before each heist, including the business hours and how many employees worked at any given time.

Taunton man held without bail in alleged armed robbery, carjacking crime spree

TAUNTON — A Taunton man who police say embarked on a three-week crime spree in Fall River, Taunton and Easton is being held without bail pending a hearing next month in Taunton District Court.

Eric James Ortiz, last known address 1 Karena Drive, apt. 14 of Country Village Estates, is facing two counts of armed robbery and one count of carjacking.

Ortiz, 26, was nabbed Oct. 16 by Easton detectives at a Bellingham residence, on the same day he allegedly robbed an Easton Papa Gino’s by grabbing his pants to suggest he was carrying a gun, police said.

Fall River police had been looking for him since the evening of Sept. 27, when Ortiz allegedly carjacked a vehicle at 9 p.m. in the parking lot of the CVS store on President Avenue.

Forty minutes later, police say, he robbed the Mobil gas station at 1088 County St.
