Police were called at 2.15am on January 2 over reports of ‘moped-enabled snatches’ in Westminster, Hackney and the City of London.

Detectives found two mopeds with three riders in Kings Cross at 3.05am that morning.

They initially failed to stop for police, so both mopeds were stopped using ‘authorised tactics’.

A Hervey Bay man charged over a crazed crime spree across Brisbane is facing more charges.

Scott Anthony Owens had his matter adjourned in court this afternoon because detectives will likely charge him with an extra 15 offences.

It’s alleged last night the 24 year old drove a stolen Nissan Micra into Wacol business Viking Industrial before setting the car alight and stealing a Toyota Hilux parked nearby.

An hour later the ute was discovered in the Camira State School.

The dog squad found Owens in a bush.

Detectives are now working to link Owens to a string of other robberies across Brisbane in the last three days.

The Micra was stolen from a Bayside business when Owens allegedly asked swim coach Nathan Dortmann to order him a taxi.

In imposing the sentence, Judge Mary Fahy said it would have been lengthier, except she was restricted to a total of 24 months.

Matthew Goldbey (27), with an address at 174 Leargán, Knocknacarra, was also banned from driving for seven years.

Garda John Kerrigan said that all of the incidents had taken place in mid to late August this year. In the early hours of August 29, Gardaí were alerted to an alarm activation at Barna Pharmacy. The front glass door and window had been smashed by a rock, which was found
