Teen shot during crime spree in Anderson, not walking says family

Family members are talking about the recovery of a 13-year-old shot during a shooting spree in Anderson.

Sunday, the family gathered outside AnMed where he is still recovering.

They lit 13 candles and released 13 balloons.

The teen was one of three people shot at a home on Montague Street last week.

The family says the teen has a long road to recovery and is alert and talking, but not walking.

“I just think it’s a very sad situation for someone so young to have to go through so much with the youth out here shooting each other,” said Ericka Mack. “You know, it’s so much crime going on.  We just need to put the guns down and come together. This is just very sad.”

The “Put Down The Guns Now Young People” helped organize the vigil.

Armed robbers behind terrifying crime spree have jail terms hiked

Six members of a violent robbery gang who were jailed for their parts in a terrifying crime spree have had their sentences increased.

The masked raiders targeted businesses all over the Midlands, including a supermarket in Coventry, often using weapons and violence to get what they wanted.

Members of the gang received sentences ranging from seven to 15-and-a-half years at Stafford Crown Court in May.

But after a reference by solicitor general Robert Buckland QC on the basis that their prison terms were not tough enough, judges ordered increases.

Lord Justice Lloyd Jones, sitting at the Court of Appeal in London, said sentences received by six of the men were “unduly lenient”.

“These were highly professional operations,” said the judge, sitting today with Mr Justice Jeremy Baker and Judge Mark Brown.

“They were carefully planned. Disguises were employed, sophisticated technical equipment used and the premises
